Terms of Service

Last updated July 3, 2026

This is the agreement between you and Hope while you use the product. It is written to be read, not skimmed past — Hope is in beta, and these terms are honest about what that means.

What Hope is (and isn’t yet)

Hope is a private family archive for recording people, relationships, memories, and photos, shared only with family members you invite. Hope is a beta product: features will change, improve, and occasionally break. It is not yet a permanent vault — please keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable, and use the archive download in Settings regularly.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself, use an email address you actually control, and let us know at support@hopefamilyarchive.com if you believe someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so choose carefully who you invite and what roles you give them.

Your family’s information

A family archive holds other people’s stories, not just your own. Only add information you have the right — or your family’s permission — to preserve. Be especially thoughtful about living relatives: if someone asks you to remove information about them, we expect you to honor that. You are responsible for what you add, and for what the people you invite add under the access you gave them.

Your content stays yours

Everything you and your family put into Hope belongs to you. Hope needs only the limited permission to store, display, and back up your content in order to run the service for your family — nothing more. We claim no other rights to your family’s stories, photos, or records, and you can take a complete copy out at any time.

Acceptable use

Hope exists to preserve families, so a short list of things you must not do with it:

  • Upload content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to share.
  • Use someone’s personal information to harass, expose, or harm them.
  • Impersonate another person or family.
  • Try to break into other families’ archives, disrupt the service, or scrape it.

Invitations and roles

You choose who joins your family workspace and what role they hold, from viewing to full editing. Inviting someone gives them real access to your family’s information at that level — treat invitations with the same care as handing over a photo album.

Service changes and availability

During beta we do not promise uninterrupted service or guaranteed uptime, and features may change or be paused as the product matures. If a change would meaningfully affect your stored family data, we will tell signed-in families before it happens whenever that is in our control.

Ending things

You can stop using Hope at any time — download your archive first so you leave with everything. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with warning where possible, immediately where someone is being harmed.

The legal part, plainly

Hope is provided “as is” during beta, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, our liability for problems arising from your use of Hope is limited — and nothing in these terms takes away rights that consumer law grants you where you live. We are honest about limitations up front precisely so nobody is surprised later.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell signed-in beta families directly. Formal legal notices go to legal@hopefamilyarchive.com. For help using Hope, or a question these pages don’t answer, write to support@hopefamilyarchive.com — a person reads both.
